Contact angle meter / List of 9 manufacturers
What is a Contact angle meter?
A contact angle meter is a device that measures the contact angle of droplets dropped on a substrate. The contact angle is the angle formed by the substrate and the droplet, and is an index for evaluating the wettability of the material. The contact angle meter consists of a dispenser that produces droplets, a CCD camera that observes the interface, a stage on which the substrate is installed, etc., and can measure the solid-liquid interface in an enlarged manner. There are roughly two types of contact angles, static contact angles and dynamic contact angles, and devices corresponding to each have been developed.
Application of Contact angle meter
A contact angle meter can be used to evaluate the wettability between solids and liquids. This is one of the most important parameters, especially in the field of surface science, as it provides information on the hydrophilicity and water repellency of the materials. Measurements with a contact angle meter can be used to check the adhesion between the substrate and the paint, and to check the water repellency of the solid surface. Specifically, it is used for waterproofing rain gear, water-repellent processing for automobile window glass and bodies, and cleaning evaluation of silicon wafers.
