What is a Turbidity meter?
A turbidity meter is a device that measures the turbidity of a liquid sample. It is used in environmental monitoring and process management. There are multiple measurement methods used in turbidity meters. The mainstream methods are scattered light method, transmitted light method, scattered light / transmitted light method, integrating sphere method, surface scattered light method, and fine particle counting method. Please note that the sensitivity and standard solution used differ depending on these measurement methods. Both methods use the principle of light scattering / transmission. There are two types of turbidity meters: a portable type that integrates a sensor and an indicator, and an in-line type that has a stationary pipe.
Application of Turbidity meter
Turbidometers are used in the field of environmental monitoring and process management. As an example of utilization for environmental monitoring, it is used for water quality monitoring in public water areas and maintenance of wastewater from factories and offices. * Public water area: Refers to the "public water area" stipulated by the Water Pollution Control Law. Examples include lakes, rivers, bays, irrigation water, etc. The standard of the turbidity meter for this application is defined in the Japanese Industrial Standards (JISK0801). The turbidity meter in process control is used for monitoring to maintain the quality of products and for quality control of pure water used in production.
