What is a Hot wire anemometer?

The hot wire wind speed type is a device that measures the wind speed by using the principle that the hot wire inside the probe is cooled by the wind when the probe is blown with wind. It is often used to evaluate the performance of air conditioning systems and ventilation ducts. Other anemometers include vane-type anemometers and pitot-type anemometers. The hot wire anemometer is suitable for indoor measurement where the temperature change is small compared to other types of anemometers. It also has the advantage of being able to measure even in tight spaces.

Application of Hot wire anemometer

As mentioned earlier, the heat ray anemometer is used for indoor measurements. It is used for maintenance management of air conditioning systems and environmental evaluation of clean rooms. The probe equipped with the sensor and the main body are connected by a cable, and the probe is directly applied to the vicinity of the air vent such as the exhaust port of the air conditioning system for measurement. Depending on the equipment, it is often possible to measure not only the wind speed but also the air volume and temperature. Except for cases used in clean rooms, dust and dirt often adhere to the heat rays, which affects the measurement. Therefore, regular maintenance and calibration are required.
