What is a Dust meter?
A dust meter is a device for measuring the dust concentration in a space. In addition to the dust meter, there is a particle counter as a device for measuring particles in space. The two devices are very similar, but the dust meter is capable of measuring higher concentrations. Dust gauges and particle counters have different units of concentration to measure and display. The dust meter measures and displays the mass concentration, and the particle counter measures and displays the number concentration. Another difference between the two devices is the suction rate. For dust meters used to measure high concentrations, a suction speed of several liters per minute is sufficient. On the other hand, the particle counter needs to increase the suction amount to measure gas with a relatively low particle concentration, and if the suction speed is fast, it can reach up to 100 L / min.
Application of Dust meter
A dust meter is a device that measures dust with a relatively high concentration. Examples of use include general indoor and outdoor air, or high dust levels such as factories and tunnels. Since PM2.5 measurement is performed in the atmosphere, a dust meter is used. On the other hand, the particle counter is usually used in a space where the particle concentration is lower than that of the dust meter. For example, it is suitable for measurement in a highly clean space such as a clean room of a manufacturing factory in the medical field, electronic material field, and food field.
