What is a Radioactivity measuring instrument?
A radioactivity measuring instrument is a device that measures the radiation dose in the environment. Radioactivity measuring instruments include Geiger-Muller detectors, scintillation detectors, semiconductor detectors, etc., depending on the radiation detection mechanism, and are used according to the application. Also, when used to check the radiation exposure dose, it is called a dosimeter, but since it measures the cumulative amount exposed to radiation until then, pay close attention to the number so that the specified radiation exposure dose limit is not reached. Attention has been paid to it and it is well managed.
Application of Radioactivity measuring instrument
Radioactivity measuring instruments have been widely used since the Fukushima nuclear accident during the Great East Japan Earthquake. In the nuclear accident, radioactive materials were scattered over a wide area, contaminating soil pollution and, in some places, crops and marine products. For this reason, in order to ensure food safety, radiation levels of food, soil, and the environment are measured by radioactivity measuring instruments around the nuclear power plant.
