Film thickness gauge / List of 11 manufacturers
What is a Film thickness gauge?
A film thickness meter is a device that can measure the minute thickness of an object. It is used to investigate thin films that are difficult to measure visually, such as paint film and metal plating thickness. There are various types of film thickness meters depending on the characteristics of the object to be measured, whether it is transparent or opaque, and the measurement conditions, such as whether it is measured by contact or non-contact. For example, those that use the spectroscopy of light and those that use ultrasonic waves. Since these can be measured without touching the object to be measured, there is no need to worry about damaging them.
Application of Film thickness gauge
There are various types of film thickness meters, and the appropriate equipment is used depending on the measurement target. For example, when measuring the thickness of a transparent thin film such as glass, a spectroscopic interference type film thickness meter that uses wideband light or an infrared film thickness meter that uses infrared rays is used. However, these methods cannot be used because metals and the like do not allow light to pass through. When measuring a thin metal-plated film, an electromagnetic film thickness meter that uses changes in magnetic flux or an eddy current film thickness meter that uses eddy current is used. In addition, non-contact film thickness meters such as ultrasonic film thickness meters are also used when it is difficult to contact the object to be measured.
