What is a D-sub connector?
The D-sub connector is one of the standard connectors for connecting a computer to peripheral devices. The name of the D-sub connector is derived from the fact that the shield part for suppressing the interference of external electromagnetic waves has the shape of the letter D. There is a wide variety of D-sub connectors with different numbers and sizes of pins (number of signal lines), and there are more than 20 types of lineup. The names of these types are represented by the size and number of pins.
Application of D-sub connector
The D-sub connector is a very old standard that was once widely used. Although its role has now been replaced by USB, it is still in active use in video output such as displays. The DE-15 connector with 5 pins arranged in 3 rows is famous for the output to the display, and it is also called the VGA (video graphics array) terminal.
