What is a DIN connector?
A DIN connector is a connector that conforms to the German industrial standard called DIN. Most of the connectors are round connectors with a diameter of 13.2 mm, but two-piece connectors are also included. A small, round connector with a diameter of 9.5 mm is called a mini-DIN connector. There are signal pins from pin 2 to pin 8 on the shield inside the connector. Normally, it does not have a lock mechanism, so if you pull it with a strong force, it will come off. There are male type and female type, and they are used by joining according to the shape of the plug.
Application of DIN connector
DIN connectors are especially often used in audio equipment and are common in everyday life. It is used for input / output of stereo signals, and is used for connecting recorders, remote control terminals, car audio, speakers, etc. It is also used in electronic musical instruments, computers, televisions, video game consoles, microphones, etc. For personal computers, two-piece connectors that connect electronic boards to each other may be used. The two-piece connector has a square shape, and there are many variations in the number of pins and pitch.
