Slip ring / List of 14 manufacturers
What is a Slip ring?
A slip ring is a rotating connector that can transmit electric power and electrical signals from the outside of a rotating body. Power and signals are transmitted through a metal ring placed on the rotating body and a brush on the fixed side. It measures the vibration, stress, and axial force of a rotating body, transmits a minute signal, and is used for control. It is often used as a lead wire that supplies power to the rotating body. There are two main types of slip ring mounting, the shaft end mounting type and the hollow type. The shaft end mounting type is mounted at the end of the rotating body. The hollow type fits the ring block on the rotating shaft. There is also a type in which the ring and brush are integrated and a type in which the ring and brush are separated.
Application of Slip ring
Slip rings are available from low speed rotation to high speed at 20,000 rpm. In addition, there is a large current of 3,000A or more that can be handled, and it is widely used from experiments and development to equipment. It is used to power wind power generators, machine tools, centrifuge, stirrers, robot arms, cranes, surveillance cameras, and rotating body heaters and motors such as helicopters, turntables, drum heaters, and radar antennas. It also has a wide range of applications such as semiconductor manufacturing equipment, medical equipment such as CT scans, non-destructive inspection, and acoustic equipment. It is also used to measure the temperature, strain, and torque of rotating bodies.
