Rotary connector / List of 3 manufacturers
What is a Rotary connector?
A rotary connector is a rotary connector for electrically connecting a rotating body and a non-rotating body. It can be used to supply electric power to a rotating body or to transmit electrical signals such as sensors on the rotating body to a control unit that is a non-rotating body.
A typical rotary connector is filled with a liquid metal such as mercury or gallium alloy. Similar to the rotary connector, the slip ring, which is an element that electrically connects to the rotating body, has a contact (point where it is electrically connected) by the sliding contact of the brush, so there is a difference in the contact method.
Application of Rotary connector
Since a rotary connector is an element that forms an electrical connection between a rotating body and a non-rotating body, it is often used in devices that have electronic devices and sensors on the rotating body. In particular, it is often used in machines that operate continuously and machines that need to rotate infinitely (continue to rotate in the same direction), where there is a concern about disconnection or short circuit when connecting using cables. It has been used in many machines with rotating bodies such as wind power generators, various turntables, rotary displays, machine tools and robots.
