What is a Differential pressure switch?
A differential pressure switch is a device that detects the pressure difference of a fluid and performs switching operation. They are typically attached to pipes or tubes through which fluid flows and are used to switch on or off when there is a pressure differential. It usually has two input ports, each of which is connected to a fluid. High pressure is input to one port and low pressure is input to the other port. A differential pressure switch is a device that detects this pressure difference between ports. A differential pressure switch is adjusted so that the switch operates when there is a set pressure differential. When the pressure difference exceeds the set value, an internal mechanism operates to change the state of the switch. When the measured pressure difference is small, it is sometimes called a differential pressure switch.
Application of Differential pressure switch
✅HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) Systems
Differential pressure switches are used in HVAC systems to detect filter clogging. They monitor the pressure difference across the filters, and when the difference exceeds a set threshold, the switch triggers an alarm or shuts down the system. This ensures efficient operation and prevents damage to the equipment.
✅Pump System Monitoring
In pump systems, differential pressure switches monitor the pressure difference of fluids (such as water or oil). If an abnormal situation arises, such as clogged filters or system failures, the switch activates and provides a warning, protecting the system from potential damage.
✅Compressed Air Systems
In pneumatic systems, differential pressure switches monitor compressed air supply pressure. If the pressure falls below the set value, the switch activates, shutting off the compressor and preventing overloading or damage to the equipment.
✅Water Treatment Facilities
In water treatment plants, differential pressure switches are used to monitor filters and pumps. They measure the pressure difference across the filter, and when an abnormal difference is detected, the switch triggers a warning and prompts maintenance, ensuring optimal system performance.
