What is a Magnetic switch?
An electromagnetic contactor is a type of switch used to control electrical circuits, mainly for operating motors and other electrical equipment. It operates on the principle of electromagnetism, where a coil generates a magnetic field when current flows through it. This magnetic field attracts the contact points, closing the circuit. When the current is turned off, the magnetic field disappears, and the contact points return to their original position, opening the circuit. Electromagnetic contactors are used to remotely operate circuits with high voltage and current, playing a key role in protecting electrical equipment from overloads and faults. This avoids manual operation and enhances safety.
