What is a Triac?
TRIAC stands for Triode for Alternating Current and is a type of semiconductor switch with three terminals. A triac has a structure in which two thyristors are connected in parallel in opposite directions, and can control bidirectional current switching with a single gate. Triacs are used as AC switches because they allow current to flow in both directions. In addition, AC power can be easily controlled by shifting the phase of the gate input.
