What is a Thermal relay?
A thermal relay is a device used to protect equipment such as motors from overheating or overcurrent. When a motor experiences an excessive load or when the current exceeds a safe level, a bimetallic strip inside the relay heats up and expands. This expansion causes the contacts to open, cutting off the power supply to the motor, thereby preventing overheating or damage. Thermal relays are designed to operate when the current exceeds the set value, offering important protection for electrical equipment and motors by safeguarding them from overload situations.
Application of Thermal relay
✅Motor protection
Thermal relays are used to protect industrial motors from overload or abnormal currents.
✅Pump protection
Used to prevent overheating of submersible or hydraulic pumps.
✅Home appliances
Thermal relays are sometimes used in household appliances, such as air conditioners and refrigerators, to prevent overheating.
