What is a Battery charge/discharge evaluation?
Battery charge/discharge evaluation is a process for evaluating battery performance and characteristics. This evaluation is done to understand how the battery behaves and performs as it is charged and discharged, and to assess battery life, safety, and performance.
The objectives of battery charge/discharge evaluation include the following points:
1. Performance evaluation: Checks whether the battery meets design specifications. Measure parameters such as voltage, current, and temperature that occur during the charging and discharging process and compare them with design goals.
2. Lifespan evaluation: Evaluates performance degradation and deterioration when a battery is repeatedly charged and discharged. Predict battery life through repeated charge/discharge cycles and check durability.
3. Safety evaluation: Evaluate the safety when the battery becomes overheated or overcharged during the charging/discharging process. This will enable you to take appropriate measures in the event of a safety issue.
Design improvements: Identify improvements in battery design and materials and make recommendations to improve performance and longevity. Utilizing the data obtained through charge/discharge evaluation, we will contribute to the development of next-generation batteries. Battery charge/discharge evaluation is widely performed by battery manufacturers, car manufacturers, and research institutes, and is an essential process for the development of sustainable energy storage systems and vehicle electrification.
