What is a Monosilane (SiH₄)?
Monosilane is the simplest hydride of silicon, with the chemical formula SiH₄. It is a colorless, highly flammable gas that ignites spontaneously in air. Due to its toxicity and reactivity, it must be handled with extreme care. Monosilane is primarily used in the semiconductor and photovoltaic industries as a precursor for silicon thin films, especially in processes like chemical vapor deposition (CVD) to produce amorphous or polycrystalline silicon. It may also be used in surface treatment and coating technologies.
