A DPSS laser (Diode-Pumped Solid-State Laser) is a type of laser that uses a semiconductor laser diode as a pump source to excite a solid-state laser medium, such as an Nd:YAG crystal. Compared to traditional lamp-pumped lasers, DPSS lasers offer higher efficiency, reduced heat generation, and compact size, making them suitable for industrial, medical, and scientific applications. They can produce various wavelengths depending on the configuration, with 1064 nm (infrared) and 532 nm (green) being the most common.
