What is a Combustion testing machine?
What is a Flammability Tester?
A flammability tester is a testing device used to evaluate the combustion properties of materials and products. It is mainly used for plastics, textiles, rubber, electrical and electronic components, building materials, and other substances to measure their flame resistance and burning behavior.
There are various test methods, including:
Vertical & Horizontal Burning Test: Measures the spread rate of flames and self-extinguishing properties according to standards such as UL 94.
Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI) Test: Determines the minimum oxygen concentration required to sustain combustion.
Cone Calorimeter Test: Controls heat flux to measure heat release rate and smoke production, based on ISO 5660.
Wire & Cable Flammability Test: Evaluates the burning characteristics of wires and cables according to IEC 60332.
These tests help ensure product safety and regulatory compliance, contributing to fire risk reduction.
