What is a Spring collet?

A spring collet is one of the parts used in machine tools such as lathes to fix workpieces and tools to be machined. A spring collet is usually used as a set with a collet adapter. A collet adapter is a component attached to a spindle or rotary table. The spring collet has more slits so that the collet tightens evenly and the tool can be chucked with high accuracy. It is characterized by significantly improved surface finish and tool life. Another feature is that workpieces can be easily attached and detached without using tools. Workpieces and tools that can be fixed by Corollet springs are not only round but also square.
