Scroll chuck / List of 7 manufacturers
What is a Scroll chuck?
A scroll chuck is a device that is mainly attached to the spindle of a lathe to hold a workpiece. By turning the chuck handle by hand, the three claws equally spaced at 120° move simultaneously to grip the workpiece. The workpieces that can be handled are basically round objects, but 3-jaw scroll chucks can also grip hexagonal materials, and four-jaw chucks can also grip square materials. In addition, the shape of the claw can be molded according to the workpiece. In that case, it is common to fix the jaws in place with fixtures called jaw locks or chuck mates, and drill the jaws together on the machine.
