What is a Strain relief?
A strain relief (British: Strain Relief) is a part that restrains the cable on the socket side and protects the connection part. Strain is distortion and relief refers to removal, reduction or release. Therefore, it is necessary to install a strain relief to eliminate the stress distortion due to sudden bending at the base of the cable assembly of the I/O connector. There are various products with strain relief such as strain relief plates, frame bridges and bow clamps. A cable clamp, usually made of plastic or metal, is used to secure the cable. Another method is to use strain relief cord grips. Attaching the wires to the strain relief plate using common cable ties is more cable friendly.
