What is a Autoclave?
An autoclave is a device that pressurizes and heats an object by blowing saturated steam. Since autoclaves blow saturated steam into containers, they are subject to the Industrial Safety and Health Act in Japan when they become huge for industrial use. Please note that it will be illegal if you neglect to make a notification. The specific conditions are a container used with a gauge pressure of 0.1 MPa or more, an internal volume of 0.04 m3 or more, or a body with an inner diameter of 200 mm or more and a length of 1000 mm or more. If applicable, pre-use inspection and annual inspection will be required.
Application of Autoclave
Autoclaves are mainly used in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and experimental equipment. Specifically, it is used for culturing anaerobic microorganisms to be enclosed in a combined septic tank. The combined septic tank is a facility that treats domestic wastewater such as manure, and is a mechanism that decomposes it harmlessly by internal microorganisms. Anaerobic microorganisms are not suitable for culturing in gas-containing water, so they are cultivated in degassed water using an autoclave. It is used in a wide range of industries other than the pharmaceutical industry and experiments, such as the carbon fiber plastic manufacturing process.
