What is a Autoclave?
An autoclave is a device that uses high-temperature and high-pressure steam to sterilize items. It is commonly used in medical settings, laboratories, and food industries for hygiene management. The autoclave heats water vapor in a sealed chamber and fills it with steam under pressure, effectively killing microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi. The typical sterilization temperature of an autoclave is between 121°C to 134°C, and items are exposed to this heat for a set period to eliminate most pathogens. In the medical field, autoclaves are used to sterilize surgical instruments, syringes, and bandages. In the food industry, they are used for heat sterilization of canned or bottled products. Autoclaves are highly efficient and environmentally friendly as they do not require the use of chemicals for sterilization.
