What is a Field effect transistor?
The Field-Effect Transistor (FET) is a semiconductor device that controls current using an electric field, and unlike Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJTs), it is mainly used for voltage-controlled switching and amplification rather than current amplification. FETs have three terminals: gate, source, and drain. The voltage applied to the gate controls the current flowing between the source and drain. FETs have very high input impedance and low power consumption, making them suitable for applications where low power consumption is important. There are various types of FETs, with the Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor (MOSFET) being the most widely used. Circuits based on MOSFETs are integrated into many electronic devices such as computers and mobile phones. FETs also play an important role in signal processing and power amplification, such as in audio amplifiers and high-frequency circuits.
Application of Field effect transistor
1.MOSFET: The most common type of FET used in devices like computers and smartphones.
2.Audio amplifier: Used for amplifying audio signals.
3.High-frequency circuits: Used in devices like radios and communication equipment for signal amplification.
