What is a Tungsten polisher?
A tungsten grinder is a device for polishing the surface of tungsten metal. It is especially used to polish the tip of the electrode rod used for TIG welding. Tungsten is a very hard metal, so diamonds with higher hardness are used for the grindstone. Other than diamond, cubic boron nitride called CBN may also be used. Both have excellent thermal properties as well as hardness, so there is little deformation due to polishing.
Application of Tungsten polisher
TIG welding is a welding method that uses electric discharge. A voltage is applied to the electrode rod and the metal base material to generate light called an arc. Since the arc has a strong heat, the surface of the base material can be melted and welded. Tungsten is used for the electrode rods, and equipment is used to polish the rods. If you continue to use the electrode rod, the tip of the rod may be deformed. If the deformation is left unattended, the melting cannot be cleaned, so maintenance by polishing is required.
