What is a Bearing heater?
A bearing heater is a device used to shrink-fit a bearing. A shrink fit is when a bearing designed with a squeeze margin is squeezed, it is necessary to heat and install the bearing by taking advantage of the characteristics of the metal that expands when heated. It is a method to fix the joint with the bearing to which it is attached more firmly. The heating method differs depending on the type of bearing heater product. In the past, it was often heated by using oil or a burner directly with fire, but there is also heating by electromagnetic induction. It has been devised to further reduce the danger of heating during work.
Application of Bearing heater
When attaching a bearing to a rotating body, there is a problem that the bearing tends to loosen due to rotational movement, so when tightening the bearing, between the size of the inner diameter of the shaft and the hole of the bearing so that it does not loosen. We use a method called tight fitting using bearings designed with a squeeze margin. At that time, a bearing heater is used to heat and inflate the squeeze margin. Therefore, when the fixing method by shrink fitting is adopted, it is often done when the bearing is fitted into the equipment that rotates, and an example is a high-speed spindle.
