What is a Starting drill?
A starting drill is a tool used before using a normal drill, also known as a "leading drill". As the name "starting" suggests, it is used for initial positioning and chamfering of holes. This drill has a shorter twist than normal and has a 90 degree tip. Due to these structural features and good bite during use, the starting drill is capable of accurate positioning and chamfering.
Application of Starting drill
The starting drill is used for drill positioning as described above. In this positioning work, a hole is drilled to accommodate the chisel edge of a normal drill. By performing this work, it is possible to suppress the blurring of the material and drill when drilling.
