What is a Electrical discharge machine / EDM?

A Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM) uses electrical discharges to shape metal. This process involves creating sparks between the tool and the workpiece, which melt and remove metal. There are mainly two types of EDM: wire EDM and die-sinking EDM. In wire EDM, a thin wire generates electrical discharges to precisely cut or drill complex shapes in metal. Die-sinking EDM, on the other hand, uses electrodes to carefully shape the workpiece.
