What is a Cylindrical grinder?

A cylindrical grinding machine is a machining machine that can grind the outer diameter of a cylindrical workpiece. As a basic structure, there is a grindstone stand that slides in the front-back direction with a ball screw and a slide mechanism by a servo motor on the bed. In the left-right direction, there is also a table on the bed that can be reciprocated to any position. On that table, there is a swivel table that can swivel around the pin in the center, and is fixed at both ends. The headstock is set on the left end of the swivel table, and the tailstock is set on the right end. The work piece is center-supported from both ends of the headstock and tailstock headstock, and the work piece rotates due to shaving. As the grindstone stand moves forward, the rotated grindstone hits the center-supported workpiece and is ground.

Application of Cylindrical grinder

The cylindrical grinding machine grinds by supporting the center at both ends. As a grinding method to be compared, there is a grinding machine called a coreless grinding machine that does not support the center of the workpiece. Instead of center support, the blade between the grinding wheel and the adjusting wheel supports the outer diameter of the workpiece. This is a grinding method in which the adjusting grindstone advances with respect to the grinding wheel and is sandwiched while being rotated by the adjusting grindstone.
