What is a Plasma welder?
A plasma welder is a device that welds using a plasma arc generated between the electrode and the base metal. Plasma welding is classified as a non-consumable electrode type, which is the same as TIG welding, among arc welding that uses the energy of arc discharge. Compared to other welding machines, the width of the arc ejected from the torch is narrow, so welding can be performed in finer places. There are many other merits, but there are few vendors who own the device itself, and the existence is not well recognized in the first place, so it can be said that the device is used infrequently.
Application of Plasma welder
Plasma welders are sometimes used when you need properties not found in other arc welds, such as base metal welding, which requires strict machining accuracy. For example, when arc welding of the consumable electrode type is performed, the base metal is inevitably distorted due to its structure. With a plasma welder, the heat of the arc can be concentrated in a narrower area, leading to shorter welding times and minimal strain. It is also convenient when you want to clean the finish because no grains called spatter remain.
