What is a HSS end mill?
High-speed steel end mills are tools mainly for processing square metal or non-metal. Unlike a twist drill that makes a normal hole, you can expand the hole in the lateral direction by giving a straight feed motion while rotating the tool itself. End mills can be divided into two types depending on the material. The two materials are high-speed steel and carbide. High-speed steel is made of high-speed steel (high-speed steel), and cemented carbide is made of cemented carbide. High-speed steel is the mainstream, but carbide is suitable for cutting hard materials.
Application of HSS end mill
HSS end mills are used as a machining tool for milling machines. A total of 3 axes of relative feed motion is applied to both the workpiece and the tool to perform a wide range of machining such as flat surfaces, sides, grooves / pockets, chamfers, and grinds. This makes it possible to machine out dies and mold keyways for gears.
