What is a key seater?
Generally, the process of digging a groove in a circular hole is called key sheeter process. The machine used for this cutting process is called a key seater. A key sheeter is a device used for products with a large outer diameter, products with a long cutting length, and processing with a wide keyway. Compared to slotter machining, it realizes cutting that is suitable for large products. With a keyway width of about 50 mm, you can cut in one go. A high-precision machined key-seater cutter moves up and down to perform cutting. Therefore, it is possible to stack multiple products and process them at the same time within the stroke range.
Application of key seater
Used to create keyways and splines. By digging a groove on the inside, the shaft and gear are integrated, and it is possible to prevent idling when transmitting rotational motion. Shafts and rotating bodies are divided into those with a groove for inserting a key and those without a groove. The grooved type is used for power transmission, and the groove less type is used for light loads. Also, most of the keys for power transmission are ""parallel keys"" whose key height does not change. If emphasis is placed on the transmission of electric torque, apply a ""gradient key"" that makes the key height shallower. The key sheeter is characterized by cutting that takes advantage of the long processing width. Workpieces with a large outer diameter can be processed. Depending on the cutting size, it can be cut with a single process.
