What is a Slitter?
Cutting in the feed direction while transporting the material is called slitting or slitting, and a slitter is a device that feeds the material and cuts it in the feed direction with an arbitrary width. Some devices have only a mechanism for slitting materials, but in many cases, a slitter refers to a device that includes a mechanism for sending out materials, a mechanism for slitting materials, and a mechanism for winding up materials that have been slit to a certain width. The material is slit with a blade, but it is used properly depending on the composition, material, shape, positional relationship, etc. of the blade.
Application of Slitter
Slitters are used to cut thin materials such as films, paper, belts, rolled metals and alloys into arbitrary constant widths. These roll-shaped materials have a wide width of raw fabric (gentan), and slitting is performed to cut them into widths that are easy to use in the subsequent secondary and tertiary processing. For example, in the case of aluminum foil used at home, the original fabric is made with a width of about 1200 mm. In order to use this as a product, it is necessary to cut (slit) it into a width of 300 mm or a width of 100 mm. In such a case, it is processed using a slitter.
