What is a Cup whetstone?
A cup whetstone is a whetstone in the shape of a cup. The characteristics of the cup grindstone are that it has a larger area of contact with the object to be polished than a flat grindstone, and clogging is less likely to occur. With a cup grindstone, it is possible to perform face grinding, which is difficult with a flat grindstone. Face grinding is a method of grinding using the bottom surface of a cup grindstone.
