What is a Spiral reamer?
The spiral reamer has a right-handed twist, unlike a general straight-edged reamer. The chips from processing go to the entrance of the hole in the same way as a drill. It is possible to perform high-precision drilling like a general reamer. By twisting the blade, it is possible to reduce the cutting force and improve the surface roughness, and the twisted groove improves the discharge of chips and prevents chattering. There are right-handed twist reamers (spiral reamers) and left-handed twisted reamers (helical reamers, broaching reamers), and left-handed twisted reamers have different names.
