What is a Ordinary lathe?
A lathe is a type of machine tool for metal processing. The workpiece is fixed to a rotating base called a chuck, and a cutting tool called a cutting tool is applied to scrape the workpiece to carve out the desired shape. There are various types of lathes, but they are generally classified into general-purpose lathes in which machining work is performed manually and NC lathes that are automatically machined by a numerical control program. A general-purpose lathe, also called an ordinary lathe, is the most basic lathe consisting of a spindle, a bed, a tailstock, a feeder, and a reciprocating table.
