What is a General-purpose milling machine?

A general-purpose milling machine is a machine tool that allows an operator to manually operate a cutting tool called a milling cutter or end mill to machine the surface of a material. A milling cutter is a tool with a cutting edge on the circumference that rotates the tool to bring it into contact with the material and cut the surface. The end mill has a cutting edge attached to the tip and can cut holes in the direction orthogonal to the axis. Unlike the NC milling machine, which will be described later, the positions of tools and materials, relative feed rates, depth of cut, etc. are adjusted by the operator for machining.
