What is a End effector?
End effectors are used in industrial robots that automate the production process of factories and assemble, inspect, and transport products with high efficiency. Automation of the production process is called factory automation (FA), and in a broad sense, it refers to automation. For example, in the past, workers were forced to manually enter a program into a machine while looking at CAD data. However, now that the technology has advanced, processing can be performed automatically by loading the data into the CAM system. These also fall within the scope of FA. Industrial robots are closely involved in this process of automation, and in automation they must be able to perform the same tasks as humans do. The arms of NC industrial robots are articulated to make them function as smoothly as human arms. Such robot arms are called robot arms or manipulators. An end effector is a peripheral device worn on the wrist of an industrial robot. Sometimes referred to as end of arm touring (EOAT) or robot hand. Most end effectors are mechanical or electromechanical and act as "grippers," "process tools," and "sensors." There are many types of end effectors, from pick-and-place two-finger grippers to systems with complex sensors to recreate human power. Indeed, the end effector functions as a human finger or palm.
Application of End effector
1.Assembly Tasks
End effectors are commonly used in assembly lines to securely hold and position parts during the assembly process. They are commonly seen in applications like engine assembly in the automotive industry or circuit board assembly in electronics manufacturing.
2.Picking and Palletizing
In logistics, robots equipped with end effectors perform tasks such as picking (retrieving) and palletizing (stacking) products. These are used in factories and warehouses to efficiently handle goods and optimize productivity.
3.Welding Operations
End effectors attached to welding robots help in positioning and securing parts for welding tasks. This is essential for high-precision welding operations, such as in the assembly of automobile frames and chassis.
