What is a Sampling oscilloscope?
An oscilloscope is one of the electrical measuring instruments that displays changes over time in electrical signals (voltages) as waveforms. Sampling oscilloscopes are also known as equivalent time sampling oscilloscopes. Performing multiple samplings by changing the position of the sample point is called equivalent time sampling, and is used to capture rebound signals. The sampling oscilloscope does not have an attenuator and an amplifier circuit in front of it, and is specialized for high-speed signal measurement.
Application of Sampling oscilloscope
The basic use of an oscilloscope is to see changes in electrical signals. In addition to voltage, various phenomena such as temperature, humidity, speed, and pressure are measured. The main applications of sampling oscilloscopes are high-speed electrical signal measurement, optical signal measurement, and TDR (Time Domain Reflectometry) impedance measurement. By using TDR, it is possible to directly evaluate the quality (signal integrity) of digital signals flowing through printed circuit boards and cables connecting them. It is also used for LSI performance measurement and defect analysis.
