varactor diode / List of 2 manufacturers
What is a varactor diode?
A varactor diode is a diode whose capacitance can be changed by applying a reverse voltage. It is also called variable capacitance diode or varicap. In general, when a reverse voltage is applied to the PN junction of a diode, the depletion layer, which has no carriers such as electrons or holes, behaves like a capacitor. A varactor diode actively utilizes the property that the capacitance acting as a capacitor changes according to the magnitude of the applied voltage.
