What is a Schottky diode for rectification?

A rectifying Schottky diode is a type of diode used to convert AC voltage to DC. Compared to common rectifier diodes, Schottky diodes have faster switching characteristics and lower reverse leakage current characteristics, enabling efficient power conversion. Schottky diodes usually consist of a junction of a metal and an n-type semiconductor. This junction forms an electronic barrier called a Schottky barrier, which enables high-speed switching. Also, Schottky diodes have a low forward voltage drop, so power loss can be reduced.
