What is a Probe card?
A probe card is an instrument required for inspection in the LSI manufacturing process, and is used by attaching it to a wafer inspection device. The probe card has a probe and performs almost all electrical connections and characteristic inspections on the LSI chip formed on the silicon wafer. Since there are hundreds of LSI chips on one wafer, the probe card also has many needles. There are many dedicated models because a probe card is required depending on the manufacturer of the wafer inspection equipment and the size of the silicon wafer.
Application of Probe card
Probe cards are used in inspections in the LSI manufacturing process. Therefore, probe card inspection is useful for stable manufacturing of mobile phones and smartphones that use LSI, high-performance home appliances, personal computers, automobiles, etc. The probe card is a consumable item, so regular maintenance and replacement is important. Due to the wide variety of LSIs, there are many dedicated probe cards for high frequency measurement, minute current measurement, LCD driver, CMOS image sensor, etc.
