What is a Metal detector?
A metal detector is a device for checking whether a sample is contaminated with metal foreign matter. Electromagnetic waves are emitted from the device, and when a sample mixed with metal passes through, the electromagnetic waves change to detect metal. Metal detectors are often used as a measure to prevent foreign matter from entering food factories and textile factories. In the case of foreign matter contamination in processed foods, metal is the second most common foreign matter after insects, hair, food ingredients, and animal tissues, and it is a foreign matter that can cause health hazards, so the importance of foreign matter detection is increasing. Since it is a delicate machine, it may malfunction, but it may be solved by taking measures such as cleaning the detection head and analyzing the samples separately from each other.
Application of Metal detector
Metal detectors have been introduced under the control of HACCP in food factories. Since the metal detector specializes in detecting metals, it can be used in combination with an X-ray foreign matter detector that mainly detects non-metals (which can also detect metals), or it can be used independently for objects and budgets. There are various types of foods that can be used, such as dry foods, wet foods, and foods packaged by aluminum vapor deposition, such as ramen, confectionery, fish, raw meat, kamaboko, frozen foods, and snack foods. It should be noted that the water content, salt content and temperature of the object may affect the result.
