What is a Vacuum furnace?
A vacuum furnace is a furnace that can perform vacuum heat treatment processing. Since the object is heated while the inside of the furnace is evacuated, the surface of the object can be processed without being oxidized. It can prevent decarburization and maintain the luster of stainless steel even after heat treatment. In addition, since the surface is highly clean, it is possible to cleanly process the joints of dissimilar metals, and since the heating and cooling are performed slowly, distortion can be reduced. It is a treatment method that emits less carbon dioxide and can reduce variations in dimensions and hardness. In some cases, heat treatment is performed while flowing nitrogen gas, etc. into the vacuum furnace.
Application of Vacuum furnace
Metals treated in a vacuum furnace are characterized by high brilliance, which can reduce surface oxidation and impurities. Vacuum furnaces are used for quenching and tempering of metals, sintering, brazing of evaporators, annealing, etc. Instead of ordinary metals, high-grade steel such as cemented carbide tools, magnets, capacitors, automobile parts, industrial machine parts, and other metals that require special functions are manufactured in a vacuum furnace.
