What is a USB oscilloscope?
Previously, oscilloscopes were only stand-alone types, but recently, more and more USB oscilloscopes are used by connecting to the USB terminal of a PC. The stand-alone type has a screen and an operation unit, and everything is housed in one housing, so it is very convenient in that you can use it immediately by turning on the power if you want to use it. However, because it has a dedicated screen and operation unit, it is inevitably more expensive than a USB oscilloscope. In addition, since it is a dedicated housing, a separate storage space is required. Compared to this, the USB oscilloscope is premised on operation with the screen and keyboard of the PC, so the dedicated part is Only the compact body and probe for capturing waveforms. Therefore, it requires less storage space, and above all, it has the great advantage of low cost.
Application of USB oscilloscope
Since the stand-alone type is a dedicated device, it generally has higher performance than a USB oscilloscope. However, it works fine in most applications, including analog and digital waveform capture, display, and memory features. Furthermore, since the waveform memory uses the memory in the PC, there is an advantage that a large capacity memory can be used. On the other hand, when observing or analyzing waveforms such as extremely high frequency bands, the USB oscilloscope may not be sufficient in terms of performance. Therefore, it is necessary to select the equipment after fully recognizing the intended use, especially the frequency band to be used.
