What is a Plumb bob?
Plumb bob is a tool for measuring the verticality of pillars and walls of a building. It has a spindle-shaped weight called a plumb bob at the tip of the thread, and it hangs from the plumb bob cage to look vertically. You can measure the vertical with a spirit level that looks at the air bubbles in the glass container containing the liquid, but the primitive plumb bob using gravity can see the vertical relatively accurately. There is also a plumb bob that uses a laser instead of a thread and a weight. The laser type has the advantage that it is not affected by the wind and does not require winding of the thread, but it also has the disadvantage that the laser also tilts if the mounting surface is tilted.
Application of Plumb bob
Plumb bob is used not only to measure the verticality of pillars and walls, but also to install transits and to raise the ink.
There are various types of plumb bobs depending on the environment in which they are used.
Plumb bob mounting method
If the wall to be attached is wood, attach it with a push pin (needle), and if it is metal, attach it with a magnet. In the case of concrete, attach it by hooking a metal hook on a nail or the like.
Ingenuity for the wind
Some plumb bobs have a static function that quickly suppresses shaking. In an environment where the plumb bob is affected by the wind even if it has a stationary function, a windbreak type plumb bob that covers the plumb bob with an elongated cylinder is suitable.
Thread collection method
There is a type that winds the thread manually when collecting the plumb bob, and a type that automatically winds it with the touch of a button.
